Welcome to Halve

Our industry is commonly known as the Tax Recovery Industry. A more descriptive name would be the Overpayments Recovery Industry because some of the recoveries made are not technically taxes. Examples of such recoveries are

(a) premiums paid to the Ontario Workplace & Safety Insurance Board,
(b) overpayments to suppliers,
(c) rebates,
(d) duties drawbacks.

While the industry pre-dates the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax in 1991, the Goods and Services Tax is now the largest component recovered for Ontario-based organizations. Other significant recoveries include the Ontario Provincial Sales Tax and the Québec Sales Tax. Still other recoveries include the

(a) Ontario Employer Health Tax,
(b) property taxes,
(c) sales taxes of other provinces,
(d) states sales taxes of the United States,
(e) Value-Added Tax in Europe.

The industry provides a zero-cost service. When an organization retains the services of a tax recovery firm, the firm charges no fee if its review yields no recovery for the organization. However, if the firm successfully recovers overpayments, then the fee is usually half the amount recovered. Contrary to the policy of some firms in our industry where the fee is negotiated, Halve extends every client the same quality service, respect and courtesy, at the same fee of 40% of the amount recovered.
